Best way to Piken Square?
Alright, I'm a lv8 N/Me and I'm ready to move out of Ascalon. I've been told that I should now move on to Piken Square, and I've tried twice to get there. The first time I did it with a Mo/E, second time with a R/E... do I need a party of three (including a healer) to get through all those charr? Or am I just taking the long route? Which is the best way to get there (inside of the Breach)

Through the tar river to get around the wall, then north like. There is a big mob right as you get out of the tar. Tough to kill at low level, you prolly need at least a full group of henchies. Ppl are always better though.
Another option is to the do the North Wall mission to get to fort ranik, there are some quests out there you can do before heading to through the breach.

I've done it with henchies with two different chars so I know it's possible, although when my monk did it we died the first time, you just have to try not to pull too many charr at once. Good luck!

I did it as a Ranger lvl 8 before I did Fort Ranik, but damn was it a pain, and in the future I'd always do Fort Ranik missions first and not go to Piken until I was 10 or so, unless I had a kick-ass group.

i just went to piken as a level 8 r/me. i went with a full group of henchies which were all level 3. if you are careful, you can make it. the only place that is hard is right by the instance, since all of the sudden there are groups of 4-5 mobs, and some patrols. i ended it wiping once, then the second time my tank and healer died. i could see the instance portal, so i decided to just run to piken square, leaving the mage to draw the mobs. i just got there with only 50 health left.

I made it to piken square with 3 henches when I was lvl 10. Suggestion for you is to try to avoid as many battle as you can.

I've never really had much problem getting to Piken Square. Take henchies, pull one group at a time, and most of all, go slow. Make sure you enter every fight with nearly-full energy and health.

I went through at level 9 to piken square as a Nec/War. i took the war, monk and ranger henchmen and went through the whole thing slowly. Since i had the warrior counterpart i tried to be the tank of the team when we arrgravate the charr. Plus my necro skills where great to keep myself healed up while also dealing damage to the enemy at the same time! I kept 3 necro and 4 warrior skills plus the healing rune. I find my hechmen die sometimes but save the rune for your monk since she can revive everyone in the group.

Sounds like your doing well so far... I did it on my first attempt exploring. I had a R/E8 with lev3 monk, warrior and mage henchies. I would suggest avoiding as much confrontation at first or as has been pointed out... go into battle with full health and full energy, take time to rest between battles. After I found Piken AND got lev6 henchies, I got it handed to me after coming back to The Breach... (call it carelessness) So, don't underestimate them here at lower levels. As far as where Piken is located... head north when in The Breach.
Good luck.

Alright, thanks for the quick replies. I will be trying those tonight.
Hopefully I can get 3 henchies and at least 1 guild member to assist me. I got a quest from a guard right at the start of the Breach, and I need to deliver something to someone inside of Piken, so it's starred on my map. I just needed to find the best approach.

I'm sure you know this but for friendly just in case. You dont have to do the quest that is currently loaded on your map. You can change the quest you are actively on by viewing you log and selecting a new one. Press L on your keyboard then click the quest you want to do.
Additionally dont forget you can do the Great North Wall mission which ends up in Fort Ranik. Go to North Wall from Ascalon City click enter mission on your party window. At this point you can do other quests before you worry about Piken Square.
Just some thoughts for you, I've played it both ways and fourn the North Wall Route to be a good in between. Additionally I think that is the route the developers "intended" as one of the first missions you get post searing is to go talk to the guy at the north wall about the mission and defending the wall. I actually think Defending the Wall is the name of the quest that leads to the North Wall mission.

I did this the easier way I guess. I went to Ranik after North wall mission and then tracked back to the Breach with level 6 henchmen.
Oh I was level 8 BTW -- edit

This is what I did:
Take as many henches as you can.
Enter The Breach and make your way down to the river of tar by heading due north [there'll be some walls and stuff, but just head north]. If you have the quest "Enter the Breach," you'll get some help. If you crossed a bridge and found a boss, you went the wrong way.
Go east down the river, pasts the supports of the bridge, until you see a small vally to your left. There should be a Charr Necro in it. Fight your way out of the canyon and you will find yourself at the bottom of an uphill path heading a north-easterly direction.
Now here is the fun part: book it up the path. Leave all your henches behind, but follow that little arrow on your radar from a quest to Piken Square and just run.
Enjoy.

Again, thank you all for the quick replies. I got there with no trouble at all yesterday, with only 2 henchies, just pulling the charr pretty much individually and outrunning large groups with "Illusion of Haste." It's nice to have all these good 1000xp+ quests now available.
I might head back and get all the North Wall stuff I missed later today.

Now you need to think about trying to fight your way to Grendich Courthouse, not many new quests there but there are new skills
